November Runner of the Month: Rosalind Buchalski
When and why did you start running? I started in June 2016. I worked for a small business that was very into running. Seeing all of their medals got me very interested. That's when I decided to give C25K a go.
How long have you been a runner? Getting ready to hit the 1 ½ year mark in December.
First race? Frosty 5K December 2016
Most recent race? Trinity River Half Marathon
Favorite piece of gear? I love my Garmin Forerunner 225!
What shoes do you run in? Saucony
Favorite way to cross train? I subscribe to Beach Body on Demand. My go to workouts are 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme, Hammer & Chisel, Body Beast, and Shift Shop. I wouldn't be where I am with my running if it weren't for cross training.
Best running memory? My second half marathon. Plano Balloon Festival 2017. It was such a hot and humid morning. I was worried I wouldn't hit my 2:45 goal. I was so happy to finish a few minutes before my goal I jumped over that line!
Bucket list race? NYC Full Marathon. Running through all five boroughs will mean the world to me. It's my home!
Favorite race so far? Trinity River Half Marathon 2017. It was my first race not doing intervals. I was shocked when I found out I completed the race at 2:28.
Do you have a favorite distance? 10K. Not too short, not to long. It's perfect for me
What is something that most people do not know about you? I'll take In-n-Out over Whataburger any day of the week.lol
Favorite tune to rock out to while running? I listen to Pandora Thumbprint which is a mix of everything I love. Techno, Drumb and Bass, 90s Hip Hop, Rock, 80s Pop, etc.
Best part about running? Races!! Love crossing the line and getting that medal!!
Who inspires you? Everyone in MRTT inspires me. Jeanette, Laurie, Kristy, Eva, and Shilpi. My BOD accountability group. Jackie, Gina, Kristina, and Michelle. Craig Ranch Running Club. Rick is the man! Pacers !!! Can't say enough great things about them. They keep me going when I think I can't keep up. Love them!!
What has been your biggest challenge so far? My biggest challenge is to take it easy with my workouts. I need to do a better job of listening to my body. Injuries aren't fun.
Any words of advice? You're never too old to start a new chapter in life. My favorite Beach Body trainer said it best “ It's not a destination, it's a journey”
