August was an interesting month, typically we are discussing the record number of days we are over 100 degrees. Instead we seemed to be talking more about running in the rain or not. Regardless, that humidity and heat index kept our ladies hydrating often and having some tough runs.
August was also full of smiles, effort, dedication and just general support within the group! Seeing this group set goals, find that "me" time, investing in self improvement is just awesome to see and good for the heart! This group is awesome and I know we are all cheering each other on all the time. Keep movin' and keep smilin'!
Miles for Mollie #milesformollie Mollie Tibbetts was a runner from Iowa who lost her life doing something she loved - running. Our chapter leader Alicia asked that we dedicate a weekend to take some time on our runs to remember Mollie. From Alicia: She was abducted and killed on her evening run. No one should ever have to feel unsafe while running, but let's face it - as women we do. We have to be hyper aware of all our surroundings. This group is a great place to find someone to call when you want to run or walk.I am so thankful for the women who I have met from this group. I used to run alone all the time and that doesn't happen very much anymore. Keep her family and friends in your prayers.Run happy ladies, but even more importantly, be safe.
Oak Point Relays
This event was awesome - thanks to everyone who made the time to come out! We met at a local park with lawn chairs, coolers, yummy food and drinks. We joined up as teams of two or three and had a Ragnar style relay choosing 1, 2 or 2.5 mile loops from 7pm-10pm. It was so fun to hang out as a group and chat, while one team always had a runner out on a loop. Special shout out to Camp Gladiator for setting up a stretching/foam rolling station, bringing water and snacks. We had prizes and giveaways from Goat's Goodies, LPC Cookies and Deb White Realty.
Kids Summer Series
Special thanks to Deb White Realty for bringing goody bags and drinks for our last MRTT kids summer run this month. It was awesome to have special goodies at the end of this series. The kids came out and worked hard all summer - we loved seeing them active and having fun. Stay tuned for our Fall color run!

Enjoy the View

Race Day
Congratulations to everyone who raced this month! Don't forget to list your race in the Races We Are Doing document, it can be found in the FB files section. We can give you a pre-race shout-out also :)
Hot Trot We had a large group at the Hot Trot Half/10K/5K in Dallas, TX! Several MRTT ladies were either pacing the half or ambassadors for this race. We had gotten so much rain that the race was delayed and the half was cancelled due to flooding on the course. Several stuck around and made the most of a super rainy day! We also wore yellow ribbons on our shoes to honor an MRTT member from another chapter who had passed away. #MilesforShawna
