October Runner of the Month | Alexis Jacobs
When and why did you start running? November 2017, because I was hungry. Let me elaborate, I had worked really hard the year before to lose all the weight I had gained with my kids, but did so by counting calories and not really exercising. I figured if I added some exercise into the mix I could eat more than yogurt, fruits, and veggies.
First race? 2004 Tucson Half (on a whim, no training)
Most recent race? Chicago Marathon
Favorite piece of gear? My black running capris from Old Navy, because they have pockets.
What shoes do you run in? Brooks & Saucony
Favorite way to cross train? Spinning
Best running memory? Seeing my husband at the 26th mile of Chicago, I started to cry because I couldn’t believe I had done it.
Bucket list race? Boston (ha!), NYC, London, Berlin
The favorite race so far? Chicago and Cowtown
Do you have a favorite distance? I really like doing halfs (and the Rock n Roll series has found my weakness for them because I’ve signed up for 3 this season)
What is something that most people do not know about you? I dislike birds.
Favorite tune to rock out to while running? I really dig Imagine Dragons right now, I find their music really gets me moving
The best part about running? Being outside
Who inspires you? I find the women in this group super inspirational. Seeing everyone’s posts each day gives me the motivation to lace up on those days when I would rather stay in.
What has been your biggest challenge so far? Training in summer was the worst!!! \
Any words of advice? Never take advice from me, you’ll end up drunk.
