November Runner of the Month

November Runner of the Month | Rosa Elder

When did you start running? I started running about 7 years ago when someone gave me an old treadmill to lose weight. I quickly dropped 30 lbs and started increasing my miles. Then I decided to take it outdoors and never looked back. My dad died of a heart attack at 52. I was determined to make my heart healthy.

First race? McKinney Mini Nov of 2014. I think it’s Mckinney Half now.

Most recent race? R&R Dallas Mar 2018

Favorite piece of gear? Just need my running shoes, I like to run light.

What shoes do you run in? Brooks Revel 3

Favorite way to cross train? Weights, yoga

Best running memory? Route 66 in Tulsa. Girls trip, took us forever to finish but we enjoyed the heck out of every step.

Bucket list race? Honolulu Marathon, it was my uncles favorite 30 years ago when he was stationed there.

Favorite race so far? Route 66. Such a fun race.

Do you have a favorite distance? 15K

What is something that most people do not know about you? I’m an open book. Don’t really have any secrets. If you run with me often, you know me.

Favorite tune to rock out to while running?Probably anything from Post Malone but I rarely listen to music because I never run alone.

Best part about running? There’s no strangers. A fellow runner is a great friend even if you’ve never met them before.

Who inspires you? My running group. There’s always someone willing to join you in your crazy journey.

What has been your biggest challenge so far? Plantars Fasciitis and sciatica together. I haven’t raced in 1-1/2 years because of it but it’s getting better.

Any words of advice?Run your own pace and stay consistent. Everything else will follow.
